Property Feature: Oasis Casita

This is the one that started it all—our original vacation rental property that we started hosting in 2017. The Oasis Casita is the cozy guest house of your desert dreams. Spanish for “small house,” our little casita is truly an oasis in the desert. But don’t let the small size fool you, there’s a lot of luxury packed into its 400 square feet.

Nestled on four peaceful acres in the heart of northwest Tucson, the Oasis Casita is filled with Southwestern charm. Before you even step foot inside, you’ll fall in love with the traditional and clean white stucco exterior and red clay tile roof. Upon entering, you’ll immediately notice the charm of the arabesque shaped Saltillo tile underfoot, the organic shape of live edge mesquite shelves in the kitchen, and texture of leather accents offer a lovely Southwestern vibe. With a luxe and cozy atmosphere, you’ll be in vacay mode in no time.

The Oasis Casita is perfect for a couple or a solo traveler, with one well-appointed bedroom and spa-like ensuite bathroom. You’ll sink into the pillowy-yet-supportive queen-sized bed (it’s the Helix Midnight Luxe - guests love it!), made up with crisp white Pima cotton linens, and pops of soothing southwestern colors. Above the bed hangs a one-of-a-kind macrame art piece strung on the skeleton of a cholla cactus sourced from the grounds of our property, handmade by local artist Melrose Macrame. You’ll find plenty of storage for your clothes in the vintage mid-century furniture and there’s plenty of space in the closet - you’ll even find two cotton robes in there!

The bathroom is modern, sparkling clean, and will summon the feeling of being in a spa. With its well-appointed custom navy blue tile from Fireclay Tile, glass shower doors, and fluffy white towels, you will likely find it difficult to leave!

The living room and eat-in kitchen flow together in one multi-function space. Flooded with natural light, the light wood cabinetry and pristine quartz countertops will have you excited to whip up a delicious meal–or just brew a cup of coffee to enjoy on the patio. Whether you like to cook or just reheat leftovers from one of Tucson’s many amazing restaurants, you’ll find everything you need, including cookware, dishes, utensils, and a fully-stocked spice drawer. If dining out is more your style, check out one of our favorite nearby patio dining options

Take a load off from a long day of adventuring by sinking deep into the Crate & Barrel Lounge II couch and snuggle up with your vacation book or catch your favorite show on the Roku TV. Prefer to disconnect and relax under the stars? Dine al fresco or unwind fireside at the chiminea. So grab some take-out, kick off your hiking boots, and settle in for an evening of ‘you’ time.

If outdoor living is your style, we think you’ll be in for a treat at the Oasis Casita. One of its best features is the outdoor space. The property is surrounded by lush greenery (yes, even in the desert!), with a beautiful garden and patio and views of the Tucson mountains. We have many pollinator plants so depending on the time of year, you may see hummingbirds zipping around as we have a nest in our 30’ eucalyptus tree. At night, you may hear the hoot of a Great Horned Owl. Melt away the soreness from your hiking and exploring adventures in the hot tub nestled in the corner of our yard.

The Oasis Casita shares the backyard with our own family home. But don’t worry, with over 8,000 square feet of outdoor space, there’s plenty to share! You’ll have access to patio dining, sectional lounge furniture, a wood burning fire pit, chiminea, two hammocks for soaking up the desert sun (the BEST spot for a nap!), and a large hot tub with plenty of room to stretch out.

Carly Quinn Designs, our favorite local handmade tile artist has referred to us jokingly as her “Northside Gallery”. We mayyyy be a bit obsessed. You’ll find many of Carly’s gorgeous murals around our yard - and even a small custom inset in the shower niche. Everywhere you turn, there’s something pretty to look at in the yard! Want to have a piece of Tucson in your kitchen? We’ve partnered with Carly to create a custom tile trivet highlighting the Catalina mountains, saguaro, prickly pear and a cute little hummingbird. Get your trivet (yes, we ship!).

Must love dogs! Since the Casita shares a yard with our personal home, you’ll likely meet our playful (and quirky) chocolate lab, Enzo. And he’s always up for a quick game of fetch–and he’ll actually bring the ball back to you (over and over and over)!

The Oasis Casita is also located in a great neighborhood, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions within a 5-10 minute drive. There’s even a coffee shop that’s just a 5 minute walk. If you're looking for a delicious meal, you can head to the Oro Valley location of El Charro Cafe, which has been serving up authentic Mexican cuisine since 1922, or any of the other local favorites. If you want to experience some of Tucson's cultural heritage, you can visit the nearby Tucson Museum of Art. And if you're in the mood for some outdoor adventure, we suggest checking out trails in the nearby Santa Catalina mountains. There is so much to do, you’ll never run out of options!
